Here’s Piata Mica emerging from the Liars’ Bridge. That sky was just amazing.

And so we come to my final morning in Sibiu. I got up early to go and find breakfast before heading to the bus station to get to Bucharest to fly home the next day, and I’m so glad I did, as I was greeted with a glorious sky. I’m so glad I had my camera with me – I’ll share the best photos over the next few days. This is approachcing Podul Minciunilor (the Liars’ Bridge).

Pigeons

I’m sure I’ve said it here before, but as a former London resident one thing I really really can’t stand is pigeons. Seeing these people in Piata Mare get so close and even try to get them to eat out of their hands made me shudder! Ugh ugh ugh!

A final picture from the park. The building in the background is I think another hotel (the Continental? Can’t remember the name).

Toamna

Romania 2007 (16) 085

“Toamna” is Romanian for autumn – although it was still very warm and sunny, this photo, from the park opposite the Radu Stanca theatre, shows the leaves turning and autumn definitely on the way. The white building in the background is the Hotel Continental Forum, at the end of Str. Balcescu.

As mentioned a couple of days ago, one of Sibiu’s theatres (which houses one of Romania’s finest theatre companies) is named after Radu Stanca.

The black square below the masks is an electronic billboard, but it didn’t seem to be working the day I took these pictures.

Corner

Just up the road from Radu Stanca’s house, this is a close-up of the corner with Str. Tipografilor. I just liked the warm orange colours here.

Radu Stanca’s place

This house has a plaque outside proclaiming it as the former residence of Radu Stanca, who was a Romanian poet and playwright. There is also a theatre in Sibiu named after him (which will appear soon here).
