A lot of the activities during the year of Culture could best be described as bizarre. I think this was the bizarrest of them all – what started off as a pile of sand ended up as a really odd topiary installation, featuring the three bears, a heron, a water feature and various flowers. It transpires it was a gift from one of Sibiu’s twin towns, Lucon in France, to celebrate the year of culture and certainly remained here in Piata Mare for the rest of July while I was there (though when I returned at the start of October it had disappeared).

    I don’t think it’s bizarre at all — I think it’s cute! 🙂

  2. I think it’s an interesting and unusual display! Love the topiaries!

Add me for “cute” as well — but perhaps I’m bizarre!

Thanks for sharing: it does not need saying, but I am loving experiencing Sibiu through your photos and descriptions.
