Just to let you know that I’ll be taking a break from this blog and my other daily photo blog (Glasgow) till the start of September. My laptop had a bit of a meltdown at the weekend, I have masses of work to do and the blogs are just one thing too many to be dealing with! See you next week, when life is hopefully a bit less complicated!

I must be honest, although I really liked the staircase, I was a bit disappointed with the exhibits in the Contemporary Art Gallery. I did take a few photos though, so I shall show those over the next few days. I took this one as it made me smile – all Brits know the “Carry On” films, which are a British cultural institution from the 1960s and 1970s, and I think “Carry On Screaming” is one of my favourites
(altogether now: “Frying tonight?!”)

I think this is my favourite of the staircase pictures I took at the Contemporary Art Gallery, right from the top floor.

This is the lovely staircase in the Contemporary Art Gallery on Str. Tribunei, just down the road from where I was staying.

I saw the moon over the topiary and couldn’t resist yet another photo of it

Here’s a couple more of the passageway, taken from halfway through it – the first one is looking towards Str. Mitropoliei, and the second is looking towards Str. Xenopol.

This shows a little passageway that is a cut-through between Str. Mitropoliei and Str. Xenopol, not far from where I was staying. I think I took this one from Str. Mitropoliei looking towards Xenopol. I really like the ghostly figure silhouetted in the sunlight.

This is in Str. Balcescu, where lots of the concerts and theatrical productions that took place in Sibiu as part of the year of Culture 2007 were displayed. The Spanish singer Julio Iglesias came to town (he played in a few Romanian cities as part of his tour) and Piata Mare was turned into a huge concert venue with seating and everything, and cordoned off for those of us plebs who didn’t have tickets (probably most of the city, given that the tickets were really expensive). I was actually out of town the night of the concert fortunately – I was escorting my Other Half back to Bucharest to get his flight home. This was taken the week after the concert, but before another poster was put up to take Julio’s place.

Here’s a couple more pictures of the mad topiary from Lucon. I like these pictures as they show the Town Hall in the background and give a good idea of the size of the thing.
